Book I is part of a two book series. For 105 pages, this book deals with author, Ronn Wyckoff's, reasons for writing "Basketball On A Triangle?", his own background and showing how a coach can get on the path to become a teaching-coach. It's part autobiography?part philosophy?and part inspiration.
This is a book about "right thinking" and how to develop a mind-set to become the best teaching-coach or player we can be.
Coach Ronn writes about how he got started as a coach in the 1960's and how he developed into a teaching-coach who now teaches coaches all over the world.
With today's sports mentality that makes winning paramount; where losing is meant to make the non-winner appear as unworthy; and where pretty much anything goes, even in youth sports, in order to win--Coach Ronn's approach is like a breath of fresh air. In plain and simple language he talks about how we can take a higher (spiritual) approach to teaching and playing the game and all come out winners.
Developing players and teaching coaches how to teach the game is what Coach Ronn's whole focus is about.
Coach Ronn believes that every player needs and deserves a teaching-coach in the early years, so players can get it right from the start. To accomplish this requires that a player be taught fundamental skills correctly in the first years of playing, and that's what is covered in Book II.
With his more than fifty years in basketball, first as a player, then as a coach, and later as an international consultant and national team coach, Coach Ronn brings a rich and varied expertise to his writing. He weaves anecdotes about his own life and coaching experiences in with suggestions on how to take one's game to a higher level--skill wise and spiritually. Everything the author brings forth in his book is straightforward and simple, all the time relating to how to find a higher purpose for our lives and bring it into working with youth.
