Major Basketball Action With Minnesota Timberwolves Tickets

Minnesota Timberwolves tickets were hardly on any basketball enthusiast's most-wanted list a few years ago. Despite being a new team, the Timberwolves didn't seem to be able to find their footing and many thought the team would not last for long. Today, they are one of the strongest contending teams in the NBA.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and are part of the National Basketball Association's northwest division and western conference. The team's headquarters are at Target Center and so far, they have one division title win to their name.

Failing To Deliver

The Timberwolves were founded in 1989 as part of an expansion drive in the NBA. Early on, the team had huge support from fans and sales of Minnesota Timberwolves tickets were doing steady business. This was best seen in the game that the team played at the Metrodome. Even though it was a huge venue to fill, the Timberwolves managed to bring in one million fans. Minnesota Timberwolves tickets continued to be in demand for a while, especially when they drew in the third largest crowd in NBA history in 1990.

With such massive fan support and Minnesota Timberwolves tickets sales, the team should have started picking up the pace. But the Timberwolves began to falter- soon the team had the sad distinction of holding the worst NBA record of 15-67. Rumors began about relocating the team and the Timberwolves were almost moved to New Orleans. But fortunately for them, the NBA blocked the move and it became clear that the team had to begin rethinking their game strategy.

Rising Up

Under new ownership and a new manager, efforts began to rebuild the team. A number of astute trades and player acquisitions resulted in the Timberwolves making the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Even though they were quickly eliminated by the Houston Rockets, it was nevertheless seen as a positive step forward for a team that had been floundering near the bottom of the barrel. Things seemed to look even brighter for the team as they signed in high-scoring players like Stephon Marbury and Kevin Garnett. These players however came with a heavy price and the team found themselves crowned the poster boys for irresponsible spending. This also took its toll during the NBA lockout, when they had to watch a number of their best players leave since they simply could not afford to keep them. It was during this time that the team let go of Tom Gugliotta and Stephon Marbury.

But the loss didn't hit the sales of Minnesota Timberwolves tickets since the team really began to buckle down and play hard. Even without a number of their best players, the team managed to play very gritty and hard basketball, particularly into the new millennium. In 2004, the team won its first title of by snagging a division title win. Today the team is looking to be a very strong force to reckon with on the court. Don't miss your chance to watch the Timberwolves in action- you don't even have to stand in line for tickets. Just log on to an authorized ticket vendor and book your Minnesota Timberwolves tickets.
