The Grizzlies were born way back in 1995, when the NBA decided to expand its territory to include Canada. This is expected of all expansion teams and so it was no surprise that the Grizzlies began chalking up some weak records, such as the league worst win/loss record for their opening season in the NBA.

But before they could really grind their heels into the game, talks began to float about selling the team. Though the Grizzlies were gradually picking up steam, the NBA lockout meant that the owners were losing money. However there was a strong enough fan base for the team in Vancouver, which is why when the team was eventually sold in 2000, it was done with the promise of keeping the team where it was. However it soon became obvious that a move was inevitable and in 2001, the team moved to Memphis.

Grizzlies Get Into Gear

In retrospect, the move to Memphis was probably one of the best things that could have ever happened to the team. Not only was there a respectable sale of Memphis Grizzlies tickets but the team was also able to acquire players like Shane Battier who quickly established himself as a fan favorite and a draw for Memphis Grizzlies tickets. But more than this, it was a change in the General Manager that really changed the fortunes of the team. In the 2001-2002 season Jerry West was called in to be the General Manager of the team and he arrived at a time when the Grizzlies had a 0-8 record. Under West, a large number of players were shifted around and a new coach brought in. The result was that the Grizzlies pulled off the seemingly impossible task of going from one of the worst teams in the NBA to making it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Over the next few years, sales of Memphis Grizzlies tickets really took off as the Grizzlies began to drastically improve their game. Today the team continues to strengthen its player roster and its on-court performance. The team is definitely in a position to make some big wins this basketball season.
