March Madness - Not for Those Teams with Synergy: Used by More Than a Dozen NBA Teams, Synergy Sports Technology Offers College Basketball Progr

PHOENIX (Business Wire EON) April 1, 2008 -- Synergy (www.synergysportstech.com) is a staple in the NBA, where 20 teams use its scouting reports to become better prepared for their opponents, and secure a competitive edge. As part of its offering to professional basketball teams, Synergy logs thousands of college basketball games, so that its NBA clients can thoroughly analyze college basketball players for the NBA Draft.

"Given that we are already logging and analyzing these college basketball games, it made sense to share this offering with college basketball teams," said Garrick Barr, CEO of Synergy and a former member of the Phoenix Suns coaching staff. "We decided to provide the reports for free as a token of goodwill and to see what kind of reception we get."

Synergy has already piqued the interest of several big-name programs, such as National Championship contender UCLA, Marquette, the University of Southern California, Arizona State, Duke and UCONN.

Marquette University has been using the Synergy service all season long.

"Synergy's reports are extremely detailed and give our staff that something 'extra' when scouting opponents," said Brian Barone, Marquette's Coordinator of Basketball Operations. "We believe the insights we gain on individual players and teams gives us a unique competitive edge. Synergy also provides tremendous value in understanding what our own team is doing well and what we may need to work on. The fact that we can log onto the Synergy website and link to matching video from seemingly countless games is the finishing touch."

Synergy's unique reports break the game down into play-type categories. They show the tendencies of players as well as how effective they are in executing on that tendency. This season, colleges who elect to utilize Synergy's reports can also log onto the company's website to watch matching video for any line in the report.

For teams going to the national tournaments, Synergy's instantaneous turnaround on stats with streaming video could provide an important advantage for teams scrambling to prepare for upcoming opponents as they advance to the next round.

About Synergy

Synergy Sports Technology, LLC, was formed in the summer of 2004 and has rapidly grown to offer the most sophisticated video and statistical tools in sports. Synergy grew out of Quantified Scouting Services, founded in 1998, which provided offensive tendency analytics to a majority of the NBA for six years prior to the formation of Synergy Sports Technology. With over a decade of player tendency data collection in professional basketball, Synergy has become the undisputed market leader in providing objective, highly detailed scouting reports for both self and opponent scouting. The added component of linking video to every line of its reports, as well as over 2,300 automated edits per game has propelled Synergy to the forefront of digital video technology in the sporting community.

The Blessing In Disguise Of The NBA Age Limit
The 2007 NBA draft class was the most hyped and highly covered of any draft class in the last five years and maybe even this decade ? and 9 of the 10 first picks were still teenagers. Something very profound has occurred in the NBA in the past two years due in large part to the new rule that disallows any high school student from entering the NBA draft until they are 19 years old, requiring that they spend a year in the NCAA at a college of their choice before they make the big jump. The 2008 draft class is looking to be infinitely deeper than last year's as a result with freshman like Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, and O.J. Mayo shaping up to be some of the most exciting college freshman in years.
